An Experiential Event To Promote Female Drumming And Musical Careers
Event to take place in Los Angeles February 6, 2016 with live streaming worldwide
First Hit Like A Girl Event
The organizers of the Hit Like A Girl international contest for female drummers are proud to announce that the first annual “Hit Like A Girl Drum Festival.” It’s scheduled to take place at Swing House Studios in Los Angeles on Saturday, February 6, 2016. Offering educational activities and performances by some of today’s top drum artists, as well as past participants and School of Rock bands, the event is free and open to the public. In addition, the Festival’s grand finale concert featuring all three drummers and more will be streamed live and cost-free to a worldwide audience on DrumChannel.com, YouTube, and on sites of the Enter Music Network.
Top tier Hit Like A Girl sponsors will present drum clinics and product demonstrations in three of Swing House’s main studios throughout the day while additional sponsors will display products and distribute literature at tables in the entry hall. Participants will have the chance to meet artists and company reps in person, see performances and learn about education, careers and the business of music.

Now in its 5th year, the Hit Like A Girl program was started by DRUM! Magazine, TRX, and Tom Tom. Since it began there have been more than 1,600 entrants from 45 countries and more than 8,000,000 web impressions. Sponsors have included D’Addario, DRUM!, Drum Workshop, Mapex, Yamaha and Zildjian as well as many other leading drum, percussion, hardware, electronics and media companies. Hit Like A Girl’s 2016 co-spokespersons are Anika Nilles and Hannah Welton.

Swing House Studios will provide the backdrop for a day of performances, instruction, and hands-on interaction with instruments. Swing House is LA’s new full-service music space, with rehearsal, recording, rental, backline and production capabilities, and is located just minutes from Downtown, Hollywood, the San Fernando Valley and Orange County.
