Erin Barra: Erin has been a key player in the creative process of many projects from conception to final master to stage performance. With a wide ranging skill set (educator, songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist, music technology consultant) she enables people to create content they’re personally invested in and execute their ideas.
Specializing in music technology integration, she works with artists/bands looking to integrate laptops and digital technologies into their writing, production and stage setups (see client reviews), and has developed, taught and executed several music technology curriculums at the open source (Coursera, and ROLI), K-12 (Beats By Girlz), and collegiate levels (Berklee College of Music, Berklee Online).
An authoritative voice in music technology education, she is an Associate Professor in the Songwriting Department at Boston’s Berklee College of Music and is one of the leading product specialist for Berlin based music software company, Ableton. A natural collaborator, she has had the opportunity to work with an array of artists, from Grammy winning artists engineers and producers (John Oates, George Massenburg, Kathy Mattea, Elliot Scheiner) to those at the front lines of the independent movement (Res, Miles Robertson, Ari Raskin, etc.). She holds a degree in Songwriting from The Berklee College of Music, and has 20+ years of keyboard/piano experience
Danielle Thwaites – Daiza: Danielle Thwaites is an LA based producer, songwriter and artist. She has a BA in Electronic Production and Contemporary Writing from Berklee College of Music in Boston. She has been working with Beats by Girlz since 2016 and is now the administrative assistant of the non-profit and one of two Los Angeles chapter teachers. Danielle also performs, writes and produces under the name Daiza, creating alternative electronica sounds and has been performing as Daiza for over a year. One of the most exciting parts about her job is encouraging others to create, compose and produce.
Paula Fairfield: Paula Fairfield is an International and Emmy award winning supervising sound editor and sound designer for tv, film, commercials, and basically anything that makes noise. She has eight Emmy nominations with one win for her work on Game of Thrones, along with multiple wins and nominations for her work in both The US and Canada.
Her passion is high concept sound design and her main interest is working with visionary filmmakers, which is clearly reflected in her resume and her background as an artist. But the earliest glimmers of her sonic journey started in her teens when she developed her interest in percussion and drumming. As a percussionist, she was a founding member of the Nova Scotia Youth Orchestra. As a drummer, she explored as many styles of drumming available to her including pop, rock, jazz, big band, Scottish and marching, and she was in an all female top 40s cover band for a number of years. She sold her drums to go to art school, where she received a BFA from NSCAD University in Halifax, N.S., a decision she partially regrets to this day.
Paula will be debuting her new immersive audio work “Ocean of Tears” in 2018/9. Current projects include “Game of Thrones”, “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan” and the upcoming Robert Rodriguez/James Cameron “Angel Battle Alita”, due later this year.
Elana Carroll – Party Nails: Elana Carroll is a songwriter, producer and performer. She holds a BA in music and critical theory from Bard College at Simon’s Rock.Elana’s interests as a writer/producer span from electronic and dance to pop and country, and she co-writes with other artists as well. Her current focus is on her own project, Party Nails, and teaching. She feels it is part of her purpose in this life to “normalize” non-males in the music business through performance, teaching, and mentoring. She is particularly fascinated with popular culture and music in the age of technology.

Alex Rapp: Alex Rapp is self produced artist, instructor, and student in Boston, MA. Originally from Maryland, she came to Boston to study Electronic Production and Songwriting at Berklee College of Music. She has taught Music Production at the Lower East Side Girls Club in Manhattan, and is currently an instructor for the Bests by Girls Boston Chapter.
Jordan Cantor – Somme: Somme is the moniker of Jordan Cantor, an LA based producer/artist (guitar, drums, programming, songwriting). Her lyrics and dark but playful production bring to mind powerhouses such as Lorde and K Flay. She is currently writing and producing her debut EP due to be released this spring.
Lily Burns – Elem: Lily is a multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter, producer, and arranger from San Francisco, CA with a degree in Professional Music from Berklee College of Music in Boston. She has played in various performing groups and toured the United States as a Bassist and Background Singer. Based in LA, Lily uses Ableton to create projects as a writer and producer.
Alisse Laymac: Alisse Laymac is a music producer and audio engineer residing in the Los Angeles area. She is a recent graduate from Berklee College of Music studying Music Production & Engineering and enjoys working with inspiring artists whose music is emotionally driven and impactful.
Heather Nickles: Heather Nickles is a Chicago native with a passion for music. She took her childhood love of the arts to college at Columbia College Chicago where she received her Bachelors degree in Live & Performing Arts Management. Throughout her 3 years there she made it a point to get a hand in every facet of the live music and recording industry. Eventually, she found her home in artist management and tour coordination. She since has started her very own company, Amplified Touring & Artist Services, with an eclectic roster of Chicago acts and dozens of national tours under their belt.
Kate Ellwanger – Dot: For producer / vocalist / and multi-instrumentalist Dot, a fusion of electronic, indie rock, and R&B elements has awarded her a role as a one of the scene’s most respected emerging talents. Whether providing cutting edge beats as part of LA beat collective Team Supreme, or fulfilling her role as founder of her own female focused music label Unspeakable Records, Dot is a champion for the often unsung female producer. Her music has been praised by the best in tastemaker media, including features in Pitchfork, LA Weekly, Okayfuture, MTV Brazil, C-Heads Magazine, Nest HQ, Rookie, LA Record, The 405, and more.
In addition to her solo work, Dot produces for artists including SZA (TDE) and Teri GenderBender (Le Butcherettes, Bosnian Rainbows), and writes original music for film and television (MTV and OWN). Dot’s extensive knowledge of music production and creative strategies also led to her participation as a panelist at Loop Berlin: Ableton’s summit for music makers.
Krithi Rao: Krithi is a singer-songwriter and producer based in Brooklyn. Currently, she is helping to establish Beats by Girlz courses with after-school programs in NYC, including the Sports and Arts in Schools Foundation (SASF). She is also honing her skills to become a better producer and electronic musician by taking courses through Berklee Online. She really enjoys collaborating with other artists because she finds inspiration in others. One of her collaborations includes Harmonic Flaneurs, a female duo that combines Western Pop and Electronica with Carnatic music.
Lola Blu: Lola Blu is best known for merging the worlds of contemporary art and music by bringing to life unconventional canvases that grace some of the most well known stages across the globe. Self taught artist and a drummer, Lola started her pop culture journey in the advertising world, followed by embracing the roles of creative director and a fashion photographer. As a creative director Lola designed sets for music videos, commercials and short films and her fashion photography work was showcased in Vogue Latin America. Her background in the commercial world equipped her with the visual vocabulary of mass culture that now translates into her very distinctive and easily recognizable style.
Being a drummer as well, Lola is closely connected to the world of music. The spectrum of her canvases ranges anywhere from traditional canvases to musical instruments, vehicles, furniture, yachts, etc. Her work has been exhibited in more traditional venues, such as art galleries, restaurants and hotels, as well as in less orthodox ones such as concert stages, high end boutiques and music studios. Some of her more recent “exhibits” include Bruno Mars 24K Global Tour with Anderson .Paak , 2017 Grammys (LA), The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon (NYC), BBC 50th Anniversary (UK), SLS South Beach, Mini Cooper and TAG Heuer (Miami).
Today, Lola Blu continues to work towards her ultimate goal in combining her passion for music with eccentric visual art. As for her work is has graced the stage with many music sensations. Currently, she is working on a solo audio visual project which will debut June 2017.
Christin Light: Christin Light is a producer, synthesist, multi-instrumentalist and music educator. She believes strongly in the power of creative self-expression. Her mission is to help make the tools and processes of learning music production joyous and accessible especially for marginalized youth.
Christin is the director of electronic music for She Rock She Rock, and organizes and teaches for the Beats by Girlz program in the Twin Cities. She is currently partnering with the Minneapolis Public Library system to offer free Ableton and synthesis labs for youth. Last summer, Christin also assisted in teaching Ableton production classes at Camp Spin Off in Ojai, CA.
In addition, she’s an advocate for organizing inclusive community music events and is currently is a co-organizer for Ambient Jam. Christin has also been involved in events for Ableton/McNally Smith, Slam Academy, Art-a-Whirl, the Lake Street Council, female:pressure, the Bakken Museum and Saint Paul Public Libraries.
Historically, she has fronted electronic rock and art rock bands playing at regional venues like the Kitty Cat Klub and High Noon Saloon. More recently, she has focused on producing and self-releasing her first solo synthpop EP into harmony into chaos which will be released in early 2018.
Andrea Arenas: Andrea Arenas is a Venezuelan sound engineer, percussionist and composer. Since graduating as an electronic engineer, Andrea has experience recording symphonic orchestras, studio recordings and musical production. Her versatile work in the musical and audio world goes from percussion player in symphonic orchestras to recording assistant during Deutsche Grammophone recordings with Gustavo Dudamel and Simón Bolívar’s Youth Orchestra of Venezuela as well as being a sound technician for Cirque du Soleil “Luzia”.
