Drumming has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My father, who can still lay down a beat to this day, was the one who put me in front of the kit for the first time.
I consistently took lessons once a week for about four years but where I really grew behind the kit was at home alone in my garage playing to music I was excited about. While my previous teachers most definitely gave me the foundations of what I know today, Youtube videos and personal experimentation have taken my playing abilities to a new level.
Starting an Instagram page over quarantine in 2020 was one of the best things I could have done. Not only did it allow me to document my progress and be encouraged by my personal growth, but it allowed me to connect with a plethora of other drummers whose skills and styles brought variety and diversity to my drum world.
Currently, I play drums solely outdoors. My living circumstances do not allow me the pleasure of practicing privately, indoors but it has given me the opportunity to increase the interactions I’m able to have with strangers. I feel so blessed to be in a position where I can share my love for music, specifically drumming, publicly.
I’ve always enjoyed keeping music as a hobby. Like many, drumming has become a creative outlet for me. When I’m behind the kit, my brain can switch off. I look forward to seeing where my drumming takes me— musically, socially and geographically!
