Kristen Gleeson-Prata

Kristen Gleeson-Prata is a Los Angeles-based drummer, percussionist, writer and educator originally from Cleveland, Ohio. She has a bachelors degree in Drumset Performance from Berklee College of Music and a masters degree in World Percussion from California Institute of the Arts. She has toured extensively with BØRNS, as well as worked with Scary Pockets, Trixie Mattell, Mike Taylor, LPX, Wilder Woods, Total Brutal and more. She is known for her impeccable time and pocket, powerful yet tasteful touch, stylistic versatility and bright personality.

Some of Kristen’s most notable performances and venues include: The Hollywood Bowl, the Greek Theater, Radio City Music Hall, Amoeba Records, Walt Disney Concert Hall and PASIC, as well as the ACL, Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Glastonbury festivals. Her performances on late night TV include: The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Late Night with Seth Meyers, CONAN, The Late Late Show with James Corden, Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and Last Call with Carson Daly.

Kristen’s playing can be heard on the platinum-selling single “Electric Love” and album “Dopamine”, commercials for Southwest, Chrysler and Hulu, the “FIFA 16” video game soundtrack, TV shows “School of Rock” and “Uncoupled” and Output software “Arcade”. She was featured alongside Stewart Copeland, Kenny Aronoff, Evelyn Glennie, Sheila E. and others in Hunger Relief International’s 2018 campaign. Modern Drummer magazine featured her in 2018 and nominated her for the “Up and Coming” category in their 2018 Modern Drummer Reader’s Poll. 

In addition to her extensive private student roster, Kristen currently teaches at ICON Collective College of Music where she developed their Groove Theory curriculum. She is an Arthur Hull and Christine Stevens certified drum circle facilitator and a regular volunteer at Rock and Roll Camp for Girls LA. She is also a contributing writer for Modern Drummer and Tom Tom magazines.

Kristen plays Tama Drums, Paiste Cymbals, Vic Firth Drumsticks, Remo Drumheads and Percussion and Snareweight Accessories.
