Helen De La Rosa

Since winning the Hit Like A Girl contest and graduating from the Berklee College of Music with degrees in Performance, Music Production and Engineering in 2016, Helen De La Rosa has become a world-renowned drummer, band leader, sound engineer and arranger. She is currently the drummer for 3-time Grammy-Award and 20-time Latin Grammy-Award winning artist Alejandro Sanz and will soon be touring the world on his “LA GIRA” tour.

Helen, who is originally from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, previously performed in the studio and on the road with an impressive list of internationally acclaimed jazz, Latin and pop musicians such as Ania Paz, Marcus Miller, Victor Wooten, Donny McCaslin, George Garzone, Ernie Watts, Miki Howard, MARO, Antonio Serrano, Nona Hendryx, Farnell Newton, Noriko Wright and countless others.

Among her most recent projects, Ms. De La Rosa recorded with world-famous singer, composer and producer Juan Luis Guerra, who has sold over 30 million records and won numerous awards, including 18 Latin Grammy’s, 2 Grammy’s, 4 Billboard and 2 Latin Billboard Music Awards, and 7-time Grammy winning trumpet player, arranger and producer Philip Lassiter. In addition, she recorded drums on producer, arranger and bassist Jae Deal’s upcoming album, “The Colour Collection”, which features a drum duo between herself and JayZ’s drummer, Tony Royster Jr. on one of the tracks.

Helen has presented seminars and master classes in the US, the Caribbean and India and she has been a featured artist/educator with the Sócrates García Latin Jazz Orchestra at the 2016 Jazz Education Network (JEN) Convention and the 2016 Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC). She has also appeared in several prestigious magazines, radio shows and TV shows, including Drum! Magazine, Drum Channel and Drummer’s Resource.
