Cindy Goldberg

Cindy Goldberg is a long-time musician; her first instrument was the piano, followed by the clarinet and saxophone. She has played with numerous jazz and concert band ensembles, including the Halifax Concert Band, Swing Shift, and the Byward Winds.

Several years ago, Cindy fell in love with drumming.  She studied with local and renowned drummers, including Mike “Machine” Mallais, Roy Nichol and Jason Gianni.  In 2019, she ventured to New York to study at the famous Drummer’s Collective.  That was a dream come true!

In 2019, Cindy released the feature documentary, “Beat Keepers: Women with Rhythm.”  Beat Keepers profiles female drummers of all ages and skill levels.  In 2020, Cindy also launched a Beat Keepers YouTube channel and initiated an ongoing series of feature videos, showcasing female players around  the world.

Cindy is currently the drummer for an Ottawa rock band, ‘Retroz’ and the Studio Coordinator for the School of Rock Orleans, where she also teaches group music classes to young musicians.

In 2020, Cindy married American drummer and percussionist Rafael de los Reyes.
