Name: Aisha Gaillard
Location: Los Angeles, California, United States
Aisha Gaillard was born in Los Angeles, California on August 3, 1993. When she was brought into this world, she faced some challenges. Aisha was born pre-mature. Neither of her parents were in the position to take care of her, therefore she was given to her maternal grandmother. Without her family’s support, she definitely would not be where she is today. When she was three years old, she discovered her passion for music. She began learning to play the drum set at the World Stage in Leimert Park under the guidance of the late legendary Jazz drummer Billy Higgins. He taught her the importance of learning various genres such as Jazz, Latin, Blues, Funk, R&B, Hip-Hop, etc. Some of her favorite drummers are Billy Higgins, Chris Dave, Vinnie Colaiuta, Terri Lyne Carrington, Robert “Sput” Searight, Justin Tyson, Spanky McCurdy, Cora Coleman, Sheila E. and my peers!
Aisha began taking music seriously in middle school. In High school she was involved in jazz and marching band, played at various churches in the city, volunteered as a drum instructor in her community, attended the CSSSA arts program on the campus of Cal Arts, and has performed at Jazz at Drew fest, The Hollywood bowl, Royce Hall, Catalina Bar & Grill, The Seabird Jazz Lounge, The Gardena Jazz Fest, The Mint, and The Vibrato Grill just to name a few. Aisha is currently a senior at Cal-State Long Beach, performs for different artist and churches in the city. She has recently started her own band called the Aisha G. Quartet and is working on starting a r&b/hip-hop band.
