Victoria Seagriff

My name's Victoria and I'm a Berklee College of Music alumni. At Berklee I had the opportunity to study with Kenwood Dennard, Kim Plainfield, Henrique De Almeida, Sergio Bellotti, and Tony "Thunder" Smith, which allowed me to expand beyond my rock and metal drumming background. When it came time to choose a major I delved into audio engineering, and through that I was able to gain lots of experience as a session drummer. I'm currently living in New Jersey and work at two recording studios; Sound on Sound Studios in Montclair, NJ and ROJO Sound Studios in Kenilworth, NJ.

I chose to cover "Tarred and Feathered" by Plini because it's a song I love, and I felt like it gave me a lot of freedom to have fun and be myself behind the kit (on top of the polyrhythmic challenge). I wanted to be able to do a good amount of improvisation along with learning the staples of the track, and this song has lots of free, open sections that allow for a lot of experimentation.

When I'm not playing the drums or recording music, I'm teaching martial arts or surfing down the shore! Thanks for taking the time to check out my entry and learn a little bit about me ๐Ÿ™‚

Very nicely played. The wallet on the snare muffling technique. Sweet. And I am thinking a few years ago you submitted an entry filmed while playing on a boat. Irregardless good luck with your music/audio engineering career!

  6. Victoria – so very, very good and interesting! You also seem to have all the right priorities in drumming: freedom, fun, challenging and being yourself! The sound recording was beautiful. R- (40+ drumset)
