I’m Tahlia Gabrielle, a 16-year old self-taught singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Seattle. My first love is the drum set, but I’m passionate about all music. In addition to many percussion instruments, I play guitar, bass, ukulele, cello, and piano. I got my first full size drum kit at age 6 and haven't stopped since. Over the years, I’ve played many local platforms, as well as had my music take me all the way to Music City. I play on our church worship team and play quads in my high school drumline. Last year, I won the HLAG <18 Marching Percussionist category.
In February, we turned a spare room into a studio, and I saved enough to buy a Mac. I’ve grown many skills while exploring production. I want to be a touring drummer, but I know that producing is key to making a sustainable income and being a valuable band member.
This ongoing pandemic has felt dismal, a lot like Washington’s gray skies. On lockdown, we’ve been robbed of opportunities to perform and have creative outlets. The Northwest sees so many gloomy days, sometimes all we can do is look for the rainbow. It signals hope, the sun coming out again. A few weeks ago, I was catching some fresh air on our back porch. The rainfall was gushing down, so I started recording it. I felt inspired to create an instrumental soundscape over the rain drops. I hope it helps you find peace in the rain that is our current world, knowing the rainbow is on the way. Please enjoy my original song “Before the Rainbow”.
