I heard about the BBG March 2020 Beatmaking Contest in March. I previously attended BBG events before such as beatmaking event while I was at Berklee. I am a big supporter of fellow female musicians in this music industry. Graduating with a degree and Music Production and Engineering, I’ve encountered multiple instances where I was underestimated or presumed of my potential in studios. I always worked hard to keep up with my academics and competed in different environments to stand strong as a female audio engineer. I finished school in December and was not doing as much as music, since I had a full time job. When I heard about this contest, I was pretty excited but worried. In April, the studio I work for has temporarily closed due to COVID-19, so I had the chance to sit down and work on music.
The song “Free Your Mind” is originally by artists named Yellow Claw and Crisis Era. They are under the same label called Barong Family, which Yellow Claw established. I’m a huge electronic music listener and a DJ myself. While I was struggling to find my artist identity and what I wanted to do in the future at Berklee, I had the opportunity to study DJing and electronic music with the great faculty members such as Tony Clarke and Jason Dawson. Then I realized I really wanted to make electronic music. For this remix, I arranged and everything else besides vocal in this track. My remix has a different atmosphere of the genre Trance, while the original song is a Trap EDM. Please enjoy!

Soo good. I like the build up of the track. Cool, how you managed to switch the genre 😀
