Susan Badillo

Hello there! My name is Susan Badillo and I'm 24, this is my third time entering this contest. I started playing drums as a hobby when I was 12 , but it was until university that I started taking formal classes.
Playing the drums is what I like doing the most in my life. To just think that I could make a living from it is my dream and goal. (´:

My musical influences as a drummer have been and will be lots of people. I think that everything I listen to consciously or unconsciously stays in my head and within time it comes up in the way I play. For example, I grew up in a little town at the border of USA and at that place most of the people listens to norteño songs, I listened to them on the radio, being played by some locals, at school, etc. so I found myself playing triplets or norteño beats in some of my band songs. The funny thing is that I wasn't thinking about them, they just came naturally.
I believe every style of any drummer is a mix of all the music they consume along their life and you can really get inspiration from anything, it doesn't matter if you think it's good or bad, that's why I can't just name a few.

The song I picked is from the recommended tracks , and I choose it because it forced me to get out of my comfort zone. It was great to record it and to explore my creativity. It also helped me to spot my weak points and work on them. The fact that there's still so much to learn and room for improvement, motivates me even more!

I'm very happy and grateful for this kind of platforms, where I can discover people that share the same goal. Being able to cheer each other is very rewarding, because in the end it's not only a competition, we are creating a community!
