Sashane Brearcliffe-Clarke, otherwise known as (‘Sashidrumz’), is a female drummer from Ocho Rios, St. Ann, Jamaica who currently resides in Canada. Sashane started her musical journey through the support of her parents, Audrey & Rupert Brearcliffe. As a toddler, her family noticed her passion for the drum as she is always knocking on things around the house; therefore, she was given the opportunity to start her first drum lesson at the age of five.
Sashane played relentlessly in church and school throughout her childhood and teenage years, expressing her faith and love musically. She believed that more opportunities would eventually come once she stayed focused on God.
In 2006, while being a student at the Edna Manley College under Devon Richardson’s tutoring, Sashane got the first major break she’d been preparing for as she was discovered by the management team from (Rat-a-Kastle records) who subsequently hired Sashane to play drums on tour for Wallace Wilson (RedRat). Since that first break, Sashane has been in demand for her drumming skills in both Gospel /R&B /Secular arena. However, she’s never lost sight of her roots in Gospel music.
In 2009, Sashane graduated as the first (1st) FEMALE DRUMMER in Performance, in Jazz and Popular Music Studies from the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts in Jamaica. In 2012, Sashane got accepted for the Berklee School of Music (Boston) but was unable to enroll due to financial instability.
