My name is Sarah Meyz, I am a pop singer and harmonica player from Brazil. Using my harmonica as my “secret weapon”, I am at a constant search for the abstract in music to give me an edge. Since I was a little kid, I’ve loved to experiment with sounds, always making use of unorthodox pedals, synths and delays to create an authentic sound.
From times to times, I get asked about my creative process and production style, and one of my favorite phrases, which I live by it when it comes to that, is: “you have to know the rules to break the rules”. There are absolutely no limits in our musical universe, and everyday I keep on discovering something new that takes me to a different galaxy. It’s a really magical and infinite journey.
The story behind “Just Go”:
I wrote Just Go while I was living in Bristol, in the UK, and at that time, I was hearing many different stories from close female friends, living toxic and misogynistic situations at work and in their relationships, but they didn’t realise how much it was hurting them.
The single comes in as a reality shock. It’s the moment where you care so much about someone that you just want to shake that person and tell them they deserve much, much better in life. It’s about building empowerment and self-confidence, letting go of the hurtful and negative things that can surround us from times to times.
