Hello fellow music lovers!!
My name is Paige O'Rourke and I am 14 years old, born and raised in Bartlett, IL. When I was seven years old, I was taking guitar lessons but did not want to practice. This led me to look into other instruments and found a passion for the drums. I started taking private lessons with Steve Bitte. For the last 4 years, the Rock Academy has been my home and has allowed me to play in a band setting with all different types of music. One of the rewards with Rock Academy is lessons with Nick Rich and the showcase performances every other month.
Every Sunday, for the last year, I have been playing at Kingston Mines with some of the greats such as Linsey Alexender, Willy Buck, and Milwaukee Slim. Infamous drummer Jaymo Pocketmasta Wilson has also been giving me lessons, teaching me the blues and expanding my talents. I frequently attend open mic events around the Chicago land area, and love the challenge of not knowing what song is playing next. With everything I have learned over the years allows me to lock in on the base player and figure out the song.
I have had the privilege to perform at the Hard Rock Café in Nashville, TN to benefit the P.A.I.N. Foundation, which we filmed a music video that comes out this April. Meeting amazing people the past years has opened doors to sit in with the Linsey Alexender Band, Lincoln 51, Mason Rivers, Luke Repass Band, Nite Lite Band, Harrison Street Blues Band, and the Blue Coast Band. One of my biggest honors was when one of my Facebook posts of me playing ‘Hound Dog” landed me an invitation to Jackson, TN. There I met “The Father of Drums” WS Holland who played for Johnny Cash for 40 years. This past week I played with Buddy Guy at Legend’s.
In the fall, I will be attending the Visual and Performance Arts Academy at Larkin High School. I look forward to learning even more about all aspects of percussion.
