Paige Durr is currently the Assistant Band Director at Broadway High School. She is also the Percussion Instructor and Arranger for the James Madison University Marching Royal Dukes. She recently graduated from James Madison University with her Masters Degree in Percussion Performance where she studied under Casey Cangelosi, Laurel Black, Marlon Foster, Bill Rice, Dr. Michael Overman, and Robert Marino. She also received my Undergraduate degree in Music Education from James Madison University in 2016.
She has had many performing and teaching experiences during her time at JMU. She was a member of PACK Percussion Group, the JMU Symphony Orchestra, Brass Band, Wind Symphony, Percussion Ensemble, Steel Band, and Marching Royal Dukes where I was selected as one of the 2015 Drum Majors. Not only has she been involved in the music ensembles at JMU, but also performed for many productions through the School of Dance and Theater.
She has also participated in several solo and ensemble competitions. PACK Percussion Group was the first place winner of the James Madison University Chamber Music Competition, she was the runner up for the Ted Atkatz Summer Seminar Mock Audition, she received third place in the 2015 NABBA Adult Percussion Solo competition, and first in the 2015 and 2017 NABBA Adult Percussion Ensemble competition. She has also had the pleasure to have her music performed in the 2018 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, perform in the 2014 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, the 2015 Rome New Years Day Parade, the 2015 McCormick Percussion Ensemble Festival at FSU, the 2015 CBDNA in Nashville, Tennessee, and the 2013 and 2015 VMEA convention.
She also have a passion for teaching. She has a studio of fifteen private students throughout the Shenandoah Valley. Her time is dedicated to my students at JMU and Broadway, but has also taught many schools throughout Virginia and Maryland. Those schools include Bath County High School, Harrisonburg High School, Galax High School Drumline,Fort Defiance High School, and Mount Hebron High School. Not only does she have experience teaching students through the fall, but during the summer she is an Instructor for the JMU Summer Band Camps.
