I attended my first live concert when I was 12, after hearing a band was in town that had a song on the radio I liked. I was so completely blown away by the energy and power of live music, I decided that was what I was going to do in my life. I had been playing viola in my school orchestra for 4 years, which I loved, and which gave me a deep appreciation for the beautiful way instruments blended together and harmonized and complimented each other. Music tells a story that can easily touch your soul without words, and unify people in a way only a sincere artistic submission can. Beyond intellect, age, geography, or circumstances. My pursuit took me from my hometown in Canada to Florida when I was 17, and then Los Angeles where I still live and have an amazing, incredible life doing what I love, and having the ability to express myself and connect with people on a larger scale. I took a little time off to raise 3 kids, then came back to drumming in 2015. Although I love many genres of music, I have always enjoyed playing heavy metal. It's weird because I don't necessarily listen to the style as much, but I love the high energy and constant challenge. I have many influences musically, and it seems almost impossible to choose, John Bonham, Neil Peart, Cozy Powell are a few. My favorite music is from the 1970's, when jazz and blues were evolving and becoming more mainstream. I'm very grateful to participate in HLAG 2021, and honored to join so many talented women! Thank you!
