Lia Romano

Hi my name is Lia Romano and I play drums for 6 years. I started playing drums because I loved to hear bands like Green day and Led zepplin and I used to air drums to their songs. Since then I fell in love with drums and started to explore them. I accpeted to Thelma Yelin art school and I am in Jazz major. My favorite geners are latin, jazz and R&B. my influence are drummers like Max Roach, Elvin Jones, Buddy Rich, Ari Hoeing, Tito Puente and Marcus Gilmore and I also take inspiration from Brad Mehldau, Avishai Cohen, Eli Degibri, Jousha Redman and Kenny Dorham. My biggest goal right now is to become better musication and for the future my dream is to accept to berklee collage of music.

Very nicely played. I love to see jazz entries. You need to add fellow Israeli and current Berklee student Roni Kaspi to people you listen to.

Yes, Roni Kaspi from last year’s contest is terrific I would also advise listening to and watching Terry Silverlight, one of the pioneers of fusion jazz.

Lia, I love that you and your bandmates took on the challenge of “Jazz Crimes” — not an easy tune! All of you did a fine job. I enjoyed your entry more than any other that I have watched this year. You have impressive musicianship. — Gary in San Diego, California
