I'm a lifelong music fan and within the past few years, I've taken to making music in my spare time. I started playing drums when I was in high school, but really didn't have time to commit to regular playing when I was in college and then graduate school. After finishing my education and working a steady job for several years, I started to get interested again in creative pursuits. Music was always my first love and I finally had more time to commit to it. I started drumming again and with that came a flood of musical ideas. I've been a fan of electronic music for a long time and love going to dance parties. I thought to myself one day "I want to make music that I'd want to hear at a party". Though I had been planning it for some time, once the pandemic hit, I found that I really had the time needed to start working on my own electronic music. For "Earthquaker," I was inspired by beats I had been playing on the drum set and wanted to create some variations. I started experimenting around with melodic lines and tones and put together a few that I thought worked well together. I am a novice when it comes to melodies, but I trust my ear when I hear something that sounds good. I had a lot of fun working on this tune and it came together fairly quickly. I'd love to hear it on the dance floor someday.
