When I was 6, I tagged along to a friend's free, 20-minute drum lesson at a music store. I got to play a bit too and immediately fell in love. My friend's mom filmed me playing and showed my parents. They enrolled me in lessons the next week. Seven years later and now I play my grandpa's 54 year-old Ludwig set every day. My papi was a big band drummer, which I didn't find out until after I started playing. Now I drum, play bass guitar, sing, dabble in piano and am a percussionist in my junior high band. I take lessons at School of Rock in Katy. I'm really lucky that my instructors and the school general manager really encourage me, and all girls at the school, to try anything we we want. I was the first person in the entire school to play drums and sing lead vocals at the same time in a show because they gave me the chance. I remember the feeling I had when I played "Meet the Monster" by Five Finger Death Punch; it was my first double base song and you know what? I nailed it. And I loved the feeling. Music is my passion; I could never see myself without music. Drumming motivates me through everything.
