Dilek KEKEÇ MORKOÇ
I’m an instructor of twenty five years. I have countless students and also too many contributions to our education system. After years of teaching in a specific circle of subjects, the energy and desire of difference in me started to rise. I found this energy’s reflection in rhythm. So I started going to a course, which made me forget about my age. At first it was difficult to synchronize, learning was complicated. The mallet hit my leg every time I hit it, I mostly injured my fingers trying to hit the snare drum. I was hurt but I had to be patient for the sake of my newborn dreams. I learned the correct posture and techniques. It gave me confidence to start producing meaningful sounds and to see myself doing the hobby that I love. Unfortunately, I had to take a break during the pandemic, until I heard about this contest. Thanks to the support of my beloved husband Cengiz and him not allowing me to give up, I am also aware of my value thanks to Ömer, who has been my teacher for years. Now I am here thanks to them and I am very happy. Months before I am 50, my expectation is to continue my practice of playing drums again. I want to develop myself further and leave my name to those who will remain behind me. Because I am like a time machine that makes me return to that time when I play the song of the period when I hear the drums. Hello to strong women who, like me, realize that endless energy inside and find the rhythm of life on their drumstick, we deserve it.
