Danica Jane De Guzman
Danica Jane De Guzman has been very passionate about playing drums for the past 12 years, and professionally for the past four. She is considered to be one of the hardest-hitting female drummers in the Philippines.
At the early age of 13, her first drum exposure was when she watched a school band perform one of her favorite pop-punk anthems. There was something wildly infectious about the energy, though it did seem complicated, she realized early-on that with the right amount of force - and with an ability to hit the right notes at the right time–that it could be one of the most fun endeavors one could pursue. By her next birthday, she had figured-out how to play by-ear, put-together a group with her friends and performed in front of the entire school. From then-on, it was a non-stop journey of getting better at the instrument.
She was enrolled for 24 drum sessions, and took those lessons to heart and continued practicing furiously at home all throughout her high school and college years, joining various music orgs, connecting with other musicians and even joining talent shows just so she had a reason to keep pounding the skins.
By 2017, she formed the Philippines’ premiere hard rock duo MONKEY NO HERO which became a regular fixture in the local underground rock scene, and has since released three well-received singles. She is still currently busy with online collaborations and performances with some of the Philippines’ most-renowned musicians.
