Hi! My name is Clara and I’ve been playing drums for about 7 years now. Chili peppers’ drummer, Chad Smith, was my very first inspiration. His deep pocket rhythms are probably the reason why I sat for the first time behind my mother’s pans handmade drum kit when I was 14.
I learned to play on my own by watching videos on internet and listening to my favorite songs (mostly rock music at first). Three years ago, I decided to join a drum school in my hometown to learn solfeggio. This new way of learning has been really beneficial to my playing and also helped to open my mind to new music styles. I particularly fell in love with one: funk. I enjoy it a lot because it is a very flexible and creative style. I could listen to Nate Smith’s and Yussef Dayes’ grooves all day long!
Social medias are also a big source of inspiration, lots of talented drummers such as JD Beck that I recently discovered or Taylor Gordon (aka The Pocket Queen) but also guitarists, bassists, keyboardists (and many more!) are posting amazing music content that motivates you to get back behind the kit!
