My name is Mariela Quezada and I live in Lima, Peru.
I studied music at the UPC university in Peru. However, I started studying music production in mid-2018 through YouTube. I was inclined to make urban music like reggaeton or dancehall because everything can be done digitally. My biggest influences are in the production are Tainy, Sky, Ovy on the drums, Will.i.am and Taiko.
My stage name is Ariel and I would like to tell you a little about the history of my name. In my environment it is usual that the vast majority of producers are men, it is very rare to see a woman doing Reggaeton. So I thought I didn't want special treatment for being a woman, when someone listens to my work. Ariel is a unisex name, and it always causes surprise when they discover that a woman was behind a musical production
The song you are going to listen to is the result of spending hours and hours studying and practicing on my computer to get closer to the sound of this musical genre. The song includes Latin rhythms, but from a dark, repetitive and harsh perspective. In Latin America we call it Perreo. The lyrics talk about being empowered and having fun in one night. Usually, this style is sung by men, but I dared to try that it is sung and done by women. This song is a bomb!
