Hello! I am 42, and the Drummer for Milton Menasco & The Big Fiasco. About 7 years ago, I started playing congas for fun, then started playing shows as a duo with my husband, Milton (in addition to managing his band). I started sitting in with the band whenever I could, and in mid-2019 started playing drumset. I worked hard on the basics and am proud to now be the drummer for the band. The timing, of course, was terrible. I played 2 shows before everything was cancelled due to Covid. So, we started playing live online to bring good vibes to everyone at home & provide a short break from the stress of life during a pandemic. We call it Good Vibe Friday and have played weekly for a year.
My favorite genres are reggae, rock, and funk. There are too many influences to name, but a few are Carly Barrett, Clyde & Jabo, Steve Gadd, Bernard Purdie.
This video is from our live New Year’s show in our home studio. It’s an original song by Milton with a semi-open structure. I tried to focus on a simple groove. You will notice he sets a loop on his guitar, and as I settle in, it opens things up for Milton. My goal musically is to support the songs and bring solid groove and energy to the music.
IMPACT: We dedicated some of our shows to charities this year, including an employee support fund for a favorite local venue, a wildfire relief fund for displaced families, the Montana Food Bank Network, Holiday Backpacks for homeless teens, and Suffer Out Loud for suicide awareness & prevention.
