Hit Like A Girl® Weekly Contests Offer Prizes, Exposure And Industry Judges.

Sponsored by Sabian, Mapex, Sonor, Zildjian, Firth, Ludwig, Evans and Promark, the 2018 Hit Like A Girl international contest for female drummers includes six “Weekly” contests that occur during each week of the contest. These mini-contests feature teams of judges made up of female drum industry executives and artists. The selected weekly winners receive special prizes and automatically go on to the contest’s final round. Prizes include drums, sticks, heads and accessories contributed by the world’s top drum and percussion companies. All contestants are eligible in the weekly contests but, since the pool of entries increases throughout the duration of the contest, contestants are encouraged to submit their entries as early as possible. Adding to its impressive roster of drumset and technology judges, the 2018 Hit Like A Girl international contest for female drummers has announced its initial line-up of celebrity judges for the World, Marching and Concert percussion categories. Now entering its seventh year, the 2018 edition of the Hit Like A Girl international drum contest promises to build on the success and growing popularity of the program to expand the public awareness of the female drummers and grow the female drumming community. The 2018 theme, “Break Through”, is an acknowledgement of the progress already made in shattering barriers and stereotypes as well as a call to action aimed at empowering more women and girls to become players. 3 HLAG Champions To Perform At PASIC!

Three recently-crowned champions from the 2017 Hit Like A Girl female drumming contest will perform as part of a special event taking place during the Percussive Arts Society’s International Convention (PASIC) being held November 8-11 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. A drum festival within a drum festival, the HLAG Showcase highlights the expanding gender, musical and social diversity of the drumming community and takes place in Room 500 at 9:00 AM on Friday, November 10, 2017.
