Friday January 22, 2016. Anaheim, California. Female drummers of all ages and abilities— from all around the world— are invited to participate in the 5th Annual Hit Like A Girl drum contest. According to event organizer David Levine, beginning February 1, 2016, women and girls can upload and register their drum videos online to be seen by fans, friends and family, be judged by an all-star panel of industry leaders and celebrity judges, and compete to win thousands in drum gear from the world’s top drum and accessory companies.
The contest is judged by a group of well-known drummers and past winners including Lindsay Artkop, Jess Bowen (The Summer Set), Emmanuelle Caplette, Grammy winner Terri Lyne Carrington , Emily Dolan-Davies, Kiran Gandhi (formerly with MIA), [Cuban star] Yissy Garcia, Venzella Joy (Beyonce), Nia Lovelis (Hey Violet), Didi Negron (Cirque du Soleil), Nicx, Anika Nilles, Cherisse Osei (Bryan Ferry), Val Sepulveda (Diamante), Kim Thompson, Alicia Warrington (pictured) and Hannah Welton (Prince). Executives from Alfred, Drummer, Sabian, Yamaha and Zildjian represent the drum industry judges. Plus, drumming legend Steve Smith is the first to be confirmed as a special guest judge for the final round of competition.

The entry period for the 2016 Hit Like A Girl contest runs from February 1 through March 13, 2016 with Weekly Winners and Finalists chosen through a combination of celebrity judging and public voting, and announced during the course of the contest. Achievement Award recipients and the under and over 18 age-division Champions will be announced live on DrumChannel.com on April 14th.
Now in its 5th year, since the Hit Like A Girl Contest began there have been more than 1,600 entrants from 45 countries and more than 8,000,000 web impressions. Previous sponsors have included D’Addario, DRUM!, Drum Workshop, Mapex, Yamaha and Zildjian as well as many other leading drum, percussion, hardware, electronics and media companies. Hit Like A Girl’s 2016 co-spokespersons are Anika Nilles and Hannah Welton.
