Additional Prizes Include Scholarships, Grants And Passes To International Drum Festivals.

In addition to competing for $20,000 in gear from the world’s leading drum and percussion companies, this year’s Hit Like A Girl contest participants will also have a chance to win a number of “Special Awards” provided by HLAG’s educational and media sponsors. These awards include performances, scholarships, grants and passes to attend drum festivals in the US and Europe.

“Our mission is two-fold: support female drummers and encourage more women and girls to play,” says HLAG co-founder Phil Hood. “One way we can achieve both parts of that goal is to increase the visibility of female drummers. We say you have to ‘see it to be it’ so, in addition to the contest, we’re working to make sure that exceptional female drummers have more opportunities to perform, attend and be seen at major drum festivals all around the world.”
