Hit Like A Girl Taps Lola Blu for Fresh Look

World-Renowned Visual Artist Lola Blu— Along With New Web-Designers, Social Media Director And Contest Coordinators Create A New Look For The 2017 Hit Like A Girl Female Drumming Contest

The Hit Like A Girl global contest for female drummers is proud to announce that legendary visual artist Lola Blu (www.lolablustudios.com)  is commissioned to create a new portfolio of designs that will be used to support and promote the upcoming, international drumming program. A drummer and drum-enthusiast herself, Lola designed the iconic drumset for Roots’ drummer Questlove seen on NBC’s “Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” as well as custom bass drum heads for top drummers such as Thomas Pridgen (The Memorials), Aaron Spears (Lady Gaga), Gerald Heyward (Chris Brown) and many more. Lola Blu visual art has also appeared on Evans drumheads, Promark sticks and Zildjian cymbals. The artist’s HLAG drawings will be used for Hit Like A Girl’s new website, marketing and a range of drums and accessories produced by HLAG sponsors. The Lola Blu graphics will also be available on HLAG t-shirts and merch.

“I am thrilled to be involved with Hit Like A Girl and all the great, female drummers around the world,” Lola says. “I love drums and working with drummers so I jumped at the chance to combine my two favorite things: drumming and drawing. It’s a reminder that girls can do anything we want.”

Judging
Hit Like A Girl organizers also named a new, all-star web design and social marketing team that includes Sarah and Stephanie Snyder (www.flyingacemedia.com) and Keylee Fletcher. The all-new www.hitlikeagirlcontest.com website is scheduled to go live in mid to late December. In addition, up-and-coming, LA-based drummer Hayley Brownell joins former Rhythm magazine editor Louise King to coordinate the preliminary and celebrity/final judging phases of the contest.

Now in its 6th year, since the Hit Like A Girl Contest began there have been more than 2,000 participants from 50 countries and more than 10,000,000 online impressions. Sponsors have included many of today’s leading drum, percussion, hardware, electronics and media companies while judges have included some of the most popular, most important and most influential drummers on the planet. Hit Like A Girl’s 2017 co-spokesperson is Kimberly Thompson.
