Name: Juliana Novo
Location: São Paulo, Brazil
I have been playing drums since I was 19, for the Brazilian Blackened Death Metal band Crucifixion BR. About six months later I was already playing in my first gig with this band, in 1999. I have played in many gigs and festivals in Brazil and have toured Europe in 2015. Already shared the stage with Krisiun, Dark Funeral, Gama Bomb, Besatt, Fleshless, etc. We released a live Demo-CD in 2000, 2 Demo-CDs in 2002, an EP in 2011 through Satanica Productions (New Zealand), and in 2014 we released the first full-length album ‘Destroying The Fucking Disciples Of Christ’ in the USA through HPGD Productions, in Brazil through Shinigami Records, and tape version by Serpent’s Eye Recs (Netherlands). This album received lots of great reviews, and we have been featured in many music compilations around the world, such as the first Brazilian Female Drummers Comp by Hi Hat Girls Magazine and Brutal Beatings XII by Sick Drummer Magazine from USA.
I am the first woman ever to be interviewed by Sick Drummer Magazine from USA on the issue 28.
Currently working on our upcoming second album that fits more into the Blackened Death metal style.
My inspirations come from many metal styles, mostly death and black metal, such as: Igor Cavalera, Pete Sandoval, Dave Lombardo, Gene Hoglan, Hellhammer, Inferno, Max Kolesne, Themis Tolis, etc. I’m self-taught and left-handed.
