Hi everyone!  I’ve been playing drums for 9 years. My drum teacher was my fiance and he passed away last year so I sort have lost my mojo and I am not playing much and then of course I got sick with MS so that took away even more of my mojo. With that being said this is an older video of me from 5 years ago just messing around on my drums. I wanted to do a new video for this but just don’t have it in me right now – eventually in the next few months I’ll be feeling better with treatments and get my mojo back and make new videos. I fell in love with the drums at a young age while watching Buddy Rich on the Johnny Carson show with my dad. I had a nice little red and black drum pad I used to play with but never got a drum kit nor did I ever pursue the drums but always tapped along with the music and life passed me by.  When I met my fiance and found out what an excellent drummer he was I insisted on him teaching me how to play and all about drums.  He did and he was a great teacher. He had me on stage in 6 months (seriously)….all of a sudden I could play everywhere. I’ve had the opportunity to play open jams in San Diego, Newport, Austin, and Massachusetts.  I’ve played with many seasoned musicians all of which had been playing all of their lives and each one accepted me onto their stage knowing I could keep a beat , my fiance was really a great teacher. I miss him terribly and thank him for the gift of playing drums he gave me – thinking about it it’s the best gift I have ever received…… I’m probably a bit too old now to make any sort of career out of drumming but just allowing me to participate in this event is an accomplishment for myself which is what matters most to me.  I had the opportunity to learn all about drums, different makers, wraps, hardware, artists!

It’s a fascinating world!  I love watching Shelia E and Cindy Blackman – and Neil Peart – I could watch you all day long…..To all you younger women and girls – follow your dreams  – we are only here for a short period of time – do it while you can – I look back and wonder where I would be today if I only followed my dreams when I was young.  You ladies/girls got this!  Good luck to all of you and God Bless. Most importantly have fun and enjoy your life! Hit like the Girl you are!

Thanks Paul….actually I’ve progressed quite a bit…..except this past year I slowed down a bit losing my fiance and then this new surprise of MS but I should be getting my mojo back soon…..I’m all over YouTube with some newer videos from maybe 2 years ago playing open jams out – just blues stuff. It’s a fun instrument to play – it is a never ending learning instrument and has millions of sounds and beats – I just love it and it’s a great way to relieve the stress. Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching my video.

Loved the song and your timing was great. Beautiful and touching write-up and tribute to Lenny. He would be proud of you for entering HLAG.
